Archos debuts 100GB video recorder, player

Archos is due to release its Pocket Video Recorder AV4100, a handheld video player, with a 100GB hard disk drive, that can also record video without needing a computer.

Hitachi launches 500 GB hard drive

Storage companies are releasing newer drives with bigger capacities by the week now. Seagate has been one of the frontrunners. However, it is Hitachi, which has now taken the lead as their new 500 GB hard drive Deskstar 7K500 is being aimed at digital video recorder makers. They are the ones with the biggest hard disk space requirements and now Hitachi has something for them.

Toshiba's 0.85 inch Hard Disk Drive

Toshiba's 0.85-inch HDD is set to bring multi-gigabyte capacities to small, powerful digital products.

CES 2004: In a feat of miniturization Toshiba has today revealed it is working on the worlds first sub 1 inch Hard Disk Drive. The new 0.85 inch HDD will have a capacity between 2 and 4 GB. This new device is clearly aimed at the portable music / multimedia players, PDA's and pocket notebook PC's. However it's not a far stretch to imagine these HDD's in use in digital cameras and 'cross over' products which also shoot digital video.
